New artwork and feeling inspired!

Hey I've been busy this week, workin, workin, workin! I put some new work on ebay.
I'm so glad to feel inspired again. I was having the hardest time feeling motivated to paint anything. Nothing felt right, and I think I was feeling a little depressed. But,  I have snapped out of it and I feel really good. So many ideas floating through my head right now. I finished sketching out a new painting yesterday and I am anxious to start it. I found a really great theme based on Da Vinci's Leda and the swan from Greek mythology. I think I can have some fun with this one. Also I've been looking at a lot of Alphonse Mucha's work. He had a great style. One of his paintings is the inspiration for my painting " Candlelight Vigil".

I spent a couple a days this week making my own wood canvases. I found some on dick blick and really liked them but didn't want to pay 30.00 plus shipping. So I made my own out of 1 x 3's and MDF. I absolutely  love how they turned out! Best of all they cost me a whole lot less to make and now I can say the painting is handmade start to finish! And no framing needed!

These are the unfinished wood canvases. I have one primed with gesso.

You can see what one of the wood canvases looks like finished. I wanted to provide a side view. You can see, there is no need to frame these. I am really so happy with how they turned out. The canvas  sizes are 16 x 24 inches and 24 x 24 inches. The new one "Leda and the swan is going to be on a 24 x 24 inch.

Ok I finished a big one, it's 20 x 20 inches. I don't know why but I have a fascination with crows. I put them into a lot of my paintings. This new one is a favorite of mine. I have it listed in my ebay store as a buy-it-now or best offer. I almost don't want to sell it, but if the price is right I'll have to let it go. It's a fun one with a bit of a darkness in it. I love that contrast of dark and light, it's something that fascinates me.

I've just finished and listed a new painting on Ebay. It's called "In the Garden" It's a mixed media painting created with acrylic and oil pastels.

Whew! I am finally done listing all my prints for sale in my ebay store. I am glad that's done! Ok now I can relax a little bit and start painting again! Purple Bliss

My lilacs are blooming! I am so excited. Lilac is my favorite flower! They are very nostalgic for me. I grew up in Spokane, Washington also called the Lilac City. I can remember the feeling I used to get when I would  walk down to the end of the street. Our neighbor had a whole row of lilacs trees that were just huge. I loved to just stand there and smell them. There were so many and the smell was so potent. I love that smell to this day. . . I wonder if those trees are still there? Anyway I used to go down there just to pick the ones that grew through the fence. I'm sure the people that lived there knew, but they were nice and I don't think they cared that an 8 year old picked the few flowers out of hundreds, that managed to squeeze through their fence. One of my fondest memories.
